Hey All,

I have now been operating four separate PC units.A Windows 2003 Home Server, a Windows XP Media Center Small From Factor PC, a Vista Business laptop, and a PC-BSD (Unix) or Fedora Linux (ver. 6 or better) PC (though you have to report it as an Adesso wireless) for over a year.To move from system to system is only a matter of moving the USB receiver to the next unit and reboot it to initially install the software. After the unit has come up I can then move the device from unit to unit and not have to worry about rebooting.

The only thing I have to do to initiate the keyboard to PC communications is tap the space key to "Wake-Up" the keyboard and establish the connection to the PC.Once completed, I can type away as desired with full control over audio and video playback controls. The trackball speed and movement is precise. The mouse buttons feel a bit springy however after a year and about 300 hours operation they continue to work fine. The scroll wheel works fine though I do not use that function as much.Though the keys and space bar have shiny areas the lettering and numbers remain clear.

Due the premature wear of my laptop touchpad, this keyboard has proven a boon to extending the life of my laptop though it receives on average 100 hours/week of heavy handed typing action.I have even gone so far as to recommend it to friends and family that are interested in using their HDTV as a computer monitor.

A simple connection between a PC video interface and the audio jack turns most PC capable TVs into instant computer monitors, though I have to say that in my instance the combination of size and distance from the TV is not practical. However, with the connection of the Media Center to the Home Server this allows easy sharing of family media. The remote capability of the Home Server even allows the access and sharing with distant family members.

With a service such as Skype the keyboard becomes your call control interface offering you the features of an intelligent Remote Control that allows you to operate your system from anywhere within the room.Giving you full control over a Pan and Tilt Camera along with the ability to switch to any whiteboard or application sharing service.

If I had any concerns it would be the springiness of the mouse buttons and getting used to using the select buttons on the left. That the keyboard is a bit bulky is fine as it is a full 103 key keyboard which is necessary for my application. In active families I might suggest the use of a Silver Surf Wireless as it is water/spill resistant.

Given the difference of using a laptop where it can be spilled upon to using a remote PC attached to a large screen monitor the use of this keyboard turns a possible loss of a $400-1200 laptop in to a risk of a $50-75 keyboard, I would venture that is a pretty good risk avoidance investment.

Cheers!
Dave Cooke
