(More customer reviews)PRO: I have used the Logitech MarbleMouse for years, and I haven't found a smoother, faster, and more accurate track-BALL for navigation.
ERGONOMICS: However, the four programmable side buttons are not conveniently positioned for the human hand (other primates may like it). UNLIKE THE HUMAN HAND, the MarbleMousemouse is sleek and symmetrical, which is pretty but non-functional. In their obvious endeavor make this product look sexy, Logitech has rendered it less useful. I call this bizarre principle "eyewash."
THUMB: If your hand is like mine, your thumb hits the big buttons correctly, but the fingers extend beyond the buttons, and you must use your thumb on at least one side. If I click too much with either thumb, it becomes very sore and takes weeks to calm down, so I moved the mouse to the left of my keyboard physically, without changing the left-right settings in the SetPoint menu (in other words, I lied to it). Although I am right-handed, I found it easy to adjust to left-handed use, and since I right-click far less often, my thumb doesn't become sore as quickly.
FINGERTIPS: Regardless of which hand you use, your fingers extend beyond the end of the giant, teardrop buttons, whereas either thumb hits them where it should. Unless I am careful, my fingertips sometimes become sore from hitting the relatively sharp edges at the end of the monster-buttons. The buttons at the top of the humungous buttons are so high and far back that I have to scrunch my fingers or thumb backward in order to reach them, and they are so tiny that I have to look down at them every time I want to use them.
CON: Apparantly, Logitech's engineers need a crash course in human manual anatomy. The only thing keeping the Logitech MarbleMouse from becoming THE perfect trackball-mouse is their failure/refusal to consider redesigning the buttons for normal human use. Suggestion: make all four buttons the same size and shape, and reposition them to coincide with the reach of human fingers. For sake of user-friendliness, form should follow function, not the other way around.
